This conversation started close to home.

Six years ago, I moved back to Seattle’s Central District after inheriting my grandfather’s house. As I got to know the neighbors—both longtime residents and newer arrivals—I realized that many of them were millionaires.

And I started wondering: What’s their story?

What had they built? What had they inherited? What had they risked, lost, or learned? What could we learn from each other if we had these conversations out loud?

That curiosity became this show.

Beyond the number.

In a city like Seattle, being a millionaire can mean owning a home that has been in your family for generations. It can mean building a business over decades. And it can come with responsibilities that people rarely see.
